“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” With this very same motive Green Youth Generation and Social & Environmental awareness Committee of UPES SPE chapter conducted an event on the occasion of Children’s Day on 14th November 2014 at Cheshire Home which works to bring about positive change in the attitude and mindset of communities, corporates and all stakeholders towards the growth and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in mainstream life.
A group of students went to Cheshire Home to spend some time with the people over there. The key objective of the event was to interact with the people present over there and spread some smiles, also understanding the ways they can be helped out. Lunch was financed by the SPE Social & Environment awareness Committee for all the special people present in the home. The UPES SPE Student Chapter and Green Youth Generation also donated a generous amount of 2,000 rupees.
It proved to be a great event and the student volunteers who had accompanied the International Coordinator of Green Youth Generation and Members of the SPE Social Committee had a great time and had an experience which according to them had helped them grow and become more generous and compassionate.
