NATIONAL COORDINATOR REPORT FOR THE EVENT HELD AT KANYARIRI FARM BY THE GREEN YOUTH GENERATION-UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI

Event name: Tree planting extravaganza
Theme: Greener, Cleaner Environment
Venue: Kanyariri Farm

Introduction

This event took place at the Veterinary Farm (Kanyariri) on 19th April. The event was done in partnership with the College of Agriculture and Veterinary sciences, Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA), ILRI, Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI), Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI, the Kenya Air Force and Kenya Scouts Association; Various University of Nairobi Departments were also represented, including the University Library, Procurement Department, and the entire CAVS staff and student community.

Approximately 10, 000 trees were planted comprising the following species as outlined below:

The tree planting session kicked off as from 10:00am and ended at 2:15pm. The events marking the tree planting period are as illustrated in the photos attached:

CONCLUSION

The tree planting event was successful carried out with an approximate of 10, 000 seedlings being planted of different indigenous species at Kanyariri farm.
